Leah started decorating in 1997, as a hobby after graduating from college at age 36. She was smitten after the first class. The hobby has grown exponentially in almost 20 years – and so has Leah’s involvement in ICES. She joined ICES in 2000, and attended her first Convention in 2001 in Portland, Oregon. There she signed on to be the Volunteer Coordinator for the 2005 ICES Show and Convention in New Orleans. She has been involved in some volunteer capacity with every ICES Show and Convention since that time, and will be the Live Cake Challenge Chairman for the 2015 Nebraska Convention.
In 2002 she was elected West Tennessee Alternate Rep for the Tennessee Chapter of ICES and served two terms. She then became State Rep in 2006. Leah was elected to the ICES Board of Directors in 2010. Serving as Bylaws Chairman she was instrumental in completing a much needed total revision of the ICES Bylaws in 2011. Leah was elected Vice President in 2011, and served as the ICES President during the 2012-2013 term.
Leah continues to stay involved with ICES on a local level as well as a national level. She is currently serving as the Treasurer for the Tennessee Chapter of ICES and as Reps Moderator for the 2014/2015 term.
Leah prefers to work in buttercream, and enjoys decorating birthday cakes and other special event cakes. She has lots of opportunities to do that with seven grandchildren, and another one on the way.
